AI stocks like Nvidia, Micron, and Sandisk have been blown up, but keep this in mind

The good news/bad news in the aftermath of the midterm blue wave.

· 498 words

I come to you today as a humble servant of the business and investing world with both good and bad news.

First, the sprinkles of good news, because I think we can agree we need something uplifting after watching the market get torched, blown up, and shredded to pieces in the aftermath of the blue wave .

Nothing changes in D.C. overnight, if at all. Companies' fundamentals are what will drive their stock prices in the long term. I don't think the fundamentals of companies have been destroyed this week, at least not to the extent that would warrant some of the sell-offs we witnessed.

A Hut 8 ( HUT ) data center build-out isn't getting a work order stoppage today that will derail the fourth quarter numbers. Dems aren't carting off AI data center C-suites to jail and sending their companies into bankruptcy.

Texas governor-elect Hinojosa isn't sending construction crews to data centers under an order to tear them all down and turn the land into parks. Elon Musk's SpaceX ( SPCX ) — based in Texas — is still operational this weekend, from what I can tell. Musk is still on pace to churn out Tesla ( TSLA ) robotaxis and robots in large numbers in 2027.

AMD ( AMD ) didn't offer a huge 2027 outlook this week on its earnings call because it fears a blue wave stopping its CPU momentum in its tracks.

In fact, AMD CEO Lisa Su told me the demand she is seeing is off the charts !

Hilton ( HLT ) CEO Chris Nassetta is so confident in his business trends that he told me this week he felt compelled to share directional guidance for 2027 with investors. Nassetta normally doesn't share these types of year-ahead specifics.

"Here's the reality. Our political system has been built pretty well," Nassetta said on Sozzi Unleashed . "Our founders did a pretty good job of creating a resilient system. We always figure it out. We'll figure it out this time. The reality is, in the next two or three years, I don't see any real dramatic impact as a result of the last couple days."

Nassetta is going on year 20 as CEO of Hilton, an almost unheard-of run in the C-suite. I don't think you get to log 20 years as Hilton CEO if you are wrong on a lot of stuff — and I think Chris makes a valid point on the political winds that are always blowing.

Now the bad news — and it's short and to the point.

We can no longer believe earnings estimates for 2027 and 2028. While in one breath I'm telling you corporate fundamentals haven't been destroyed this week, in the other breath I acknowledge they have taken a minor hit.

Data center projects won't come to a screeching halt in the US. It will just take a higher bar to get them built. And it will be costlier to get the deals done.
