The first weekend of October has three matchups between ranked teams and a host of other intriguing college football games.It all started early in the SEC as No. 7 Alabama went into Starkville and throttled No. 16 Mississippi State in a 56-23 blowout. Kamario Taylor and the Bulldogs turned the ball over four times and the Crimson Tide may them pay for it. Alabama QB Keelon Russell finished with over 300 yards and four touchdowns in the win.In the afternoon window, No. 5 Ohio State left no doubt in its Big Ten showdown with No. 15 Iowa, blasting the Hawkeyes 31-14 in a game where star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith set all kinds of records. He racked up 206 yards and had two touchdowns in the blowout win, and will head back to Columbus as the Buckeyes' record holder in all three major receiving categories.The marquee matchup on Saturday night is an ACC clash between No. 4 Miami and Clemson.
