Indore: Burhanpur forest department arrested five people for illegally felling teak trees in Jambupani under Shahpur forest range.Acting on a tip-off about illegal tree felling in the area on Saturday, forest staff laid a trap and carried out two operations. In the first, Ramlal, Prakash and Yogesh, all residents of Pandhari-Jambupani, were caught. In the second, Bhayla Thavarsingh and Dulichand Thavarsingh were taken into custody. On the basis of the accused’s statement, the department recovered three pieces of illegal teak timber measuring 0.074 cubic metres in total.Burhanpur SDO Vinay Mukar Meshram said a forest offence case was registered against the five accused.
