Caleb Williams' late push, Jeffery Simmons' dominance help Bears hold off Seahawks for big prime-time victory
Chicago doused a late Seattle spark with big plays on both ends of the field.
SEATTLE — The Chicago Bears emerged triumphant in a big NFC matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Despite a late score that pulled the Seahawks within three points, Caleb Williams stayed cool to get a late touchdown, while the Bears' defense did enough to stifle the spark in a 34-17 victory. Chicago got things started early, silencing the crowd at Lumen Field with a methodical, 17-play opening drive that ended in Williams finding Luther Burden III in the end zone on a 1-yard touchdown pass. Seattle's offense, meanwhile, spent the first half struggling, and Chicago's new defensive acquisition Jeffery Simmons played a role in that. He notched his first sack as a Bear in the Seahawks' second series of the game, bringing down Sam Darnold for a 6-yard loss. He finished with six tackles, two for loss and one pass deflection. The Seahawks regained their footing enough in the second quarter. Chicago led 13-3, but in the final seconds of the half, Sam Darnold found Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a masterful (and much-needed) 43-yard touchdown that cut Seattle's deficit to 13-9. Watch him woooork 🙂↕️ @jaxon_smith1 Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks) November 3, 2026 The Bears didn't back down, though, breaking up a slow third quarter with another touchdown and blocking a Seahawks field-goal attempt early in the fourth.Seattle bounced back on the next drive with when DeMarcus Lawrence forced and recovered a Bears fumble. That gave the Seahawks a chance that they capitalized on. Darnold found wideout Cooper Kupp in the end zone for a 7-yard score, and connected with Tory Horton for a 2-point conversion to pull the game within 20-17.That bit of momentum didn't last long. Williams cooly led the Bears down the field for a touchdown, converting on third-and-9 (thanks to a delay-of-game call that actually might've saved the drive) on a 39-yard quick toss to Kalif Raymond that was officially counted as a rushing attempt. Seattle had one last futile drive, but turned it over on downs on fourth-and-4 from the Chicago 7. That was enough for the Bears to seal the victory.
