Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) speaks at a press conference regarding Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin’s alleged attempts to strike down endangerment findings that greenhouse gases are harmful to public health and welfare, at the Capitol on Feb. 27, 2025, in Washington.

Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) slammed the federal raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) home as “insanely corrupt” in a post on social media Monday.

“As [President] Trump’s popularity craters amid rising prices and his deeply unpopular war, everything he does is an attempt to distract his remaining followers,” Beyer wrote in a post on the social platform X.

“But raiding the home of a member of the opposing party right before the election – and tipping off FoxNews in advance so they are on hand to publicize it – is insanely corrupt even for Donald Trump,” he added.

Federal agents Monday morning searched Omar’s home in an ongoing criminal investigation. Homeland Security Investigations agents carried out the search, a spokesperson with the Justice Department told NewsNation, The Hill’s broadcast partner.

“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” the Justice Department said in the statement.

Omar blasted the raid on social media, referring to it as “political intimidation.”

“I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” she wrote on X. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”

In a joint statement , House Democratic leaders — including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (Mass.) and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (Calif.) — called the raid “deeply disturbing.”

“For years, Donald Trump and far-right extremists have relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Omar with vile personal attacks and baseless accusations,” the statement continued. “Now, less than 30 days until the midterm election, his violent mass deportation machine has descended upon the home of a duly elected Member of Congress and her family.”

When reached for comment, the White House directed The Hill to the Justice Department.

The Hill has reached out to the Justice Department and Fox News for comment.
