Shiny Ore is a new mineral added in the Crimson Desert DLC, Charting the Unknown . You'll need it to build certain ships and to craft many ocean-related blueprints. Unlike other minerals, you won't find it along mountains or on land altogether. You'll need to either dive underwater to find Shiny Ore deposits or search for Drifting Boxes.

Due to its name, you can expect this ore to be shiny and even glow a little. Fortunately, many islands across the South Sea have Shiny Ore deposits underwater. Continue reading for advice on where to look if you need somewhere to start!

A reliable method of getting Shiny Ore without diving underwater is to loot Drifting Boxes . You can find these boxes floating in the ocean regardless of where you are. If you don't want to wait for them to appear, you can also destroy other ships to spawn a couple of them.

In our experience, these boxes usually have anywhere from 5 to 13 Shiny Ore. The nice part about farming Drifting Boxes is that they contain other useful materials too. Such as blueprints and Malachite , which you'll need for certain recipes too.

Aside from gathering Drifting Boxes, you can also mine Shiny Ore deposits underwater. This can be challenging early on if you don't have any diving equipment yet. Until you do, you'll have a limited amount of breath to work with. However, you can swim into air bubbles to regain oxygen. This is a good way to complete the challenge of staying underwater for five minutes.

One potential bug we've noticed is that Shiny Ore deposits won't appear on your map when discovered. Instead, they only appear on the minimap. Keep this in mind as you find them if you plan on revisiting those locations. We've included a few spots where you can find them around Auronui Island below, but you can check many islands in the South Sea for more.

One of the early DLC Faction Quests sends you to Auronui Island. While your crew is ecstatic about finding Azurite Ore there, you'll also find Shiny Ore here if you know where to look. Head to the Abyss Nexus fast travel point on Auronui Island and then dive off the northwest side. You'll immediately run into a few Shiny Ore veins.

Shiny Ore Near the Auronui Island Anchorage

A little west of the Anchorage/dock has a deposit you can mine. You won't find as much as the previous spot, but this is another relatively easy one to get to. Which works well even if you don't have diving equipment.

Shiny Ore Northeast of the Main Auronui Island

If you go northeast of the main Auronui Island toward the mini island nearby, you can head east from there next. This will lead to a few Shiny Ore deposits worth mining.
