Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith got some great news on Wednesday, October 14th, as his wife, Cara, announced the birth of his third child.
While Smith gets ready to play against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the NLCS, before that, his third child, also his third daughter, was revealed to the world
In 2022, Charlotte Smith, his first child, was born , and Layton Smith was born in October 2024. It seems Will and Cara tend to have a child every two years, which puts another one on the horizon for 2028.
Smith now has extra motivation and a little more dad strength.
"Our third October baby girl… Carter????," Cara Smith wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.
While Smith got some great news off the field, he still has much to do on the field. The Dodgers are down 0-2 in the NLCS and badly need offense.
Smith is the hitter struggling the most through the postseason. He is hitting just .043, 1-for-23 at the plate, walking just once and punching out eight times.
Additionally, he missed some ABS calls in Game 2, and challenging a few pitches could have extended Yoshinobu Yamamoto's outing.
"Yeah, I went back and looked," Smith said . "I don't know if it clipped it or whatever. It was kind of early in the game. We kind of had him on the ropes where we could just get him out there. And the walk, the walk one was a bummer but I guess it happens. It's baseball."
Smith will be banking on his experience as one of the more reliable players on the Dodgers to turn things around, and with a healthy baby girl now safely born, he can take his full attention to the baseball field.
