God of War Laufey: Here’s What Comes in Each Edition

God of War Laufey is set to release exclusively for PS5 on February 16 — and it will get a physical edition. Set during the events of the last two God of War games — God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022) — Laufey follows Kratos’ wife as she awakens in the afterlife after dying. It’s available to preorder now in a couple of editions ( see it at Amazon ). Read on to find out what comes with each one, what preorder bonuses to expect, and more.

God of War Laufey is the next mainline entry in the God of War series. Instead of Kratos, it stars Faye, the powerful warrior Kratos married between game trilogies, and who died just prior to the start of God of War (2018). This game kicks off immediately after Faye’s cremation, when she wakes up in the afterlife of the gods, known as the Everywhen.

The Everywhen is not a peaceful resting place for Faye. She immediately finds a sword and has to fight off plant creatures. She soon learns Gods from various mythologies are fighting for power, and she gets caught up in the conflicts. Faye, played by Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil: Born Again), is accompanied by a set of magical ribbons named Rue, and a cosmic cube named Phranque. Sounds quirky.

Combat is mostly sword-based and looks lighter and more fluid than the fighting in the previous God of War games. She can also use a bow and arrow and, since the Everwhen is the source of all magic in the world, you can bet magic will play a role in combat as well.
