Biggoron Sword is an optional Weapon obtained by completing a lengthy trading sequence in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. The Thread of Light, "From a Pocket Egg Comes...", involves Link receiving an item and having to bring it to someone else across Hyrule, sometimes on a tight timer. This page details how to get the Biggoron Sword, including the location of every trade, tips and tricks, and all prerequisites.

Find IGN's complete guide to the obtaining the Biggoron Sword below:

The Thread of Light, "From a Pocket Egg Comes..." can be started as soon as you become Adult Link, meaning you can get the Biggoron Sword before tackling a single Temple if you like. Alternatively, if you want to make things a little easier on yourself, start this quest after the Water Temple. This gets you the Longshot and reopens the Lake Hylia to Zora's Domain shortcut.

You will need to complete two other side activities beforehand:

Free King Zora from the Red Ice in Zora's Domain (requires doing most or all of Ice Cavern)

To begin the quest, speak to the Cucco Lady in Kakariko Village as Adult Link. She gives Link the Pocket Egg to begin with. At dawn, a Pocket Cucco will hatch from the egg. She encourages Link to bring the pocket cucco to a heavy sleeper. Playing the Sun’s Song to reach dawn will make the egg quickly hatch into the Pocket Cucco!

Once you have the Pocket Cucco, head to the two story house with the red roof directly ahead of the village entrance. Inside, in the bed under the stairs, is Talon, the owner of Lon Lon Ranch, once again fast asleep. Show him the Pocket Cucco to startle him awake. Once Talon is up, bring the Pocket Cucco back to the Cucco Lady, and she trade you a new Cucco, Cojiro.

Once you’ve obtained Cojiro the blue cucco, head to the Lost Woods in Kokiri Forest. From the Lost Woods entrance, take the very first left, and the Cucco Lady’s older brother is found sitting against the taller tree stump (where Skull Kid was found previously). He’s asleep, so show Cojiro to him to wake him up. He’ll deem Link a good person, and give you the next item in the sequence to bring back to Kakariko Village: an Odd Mushroom.

Once you obtain the Odd Mushroom, a timer for 4 minutes will appear at the top of the screen . This is the amount of time you have to bring the mushroom to Granny’s Cauldron in Kakariko Village. Warp songs like the Nocturne of Shadow will cancel out the timer and fail the quest, which Navi will even warn you about, so you'll have to find a different fast route.

You can pass through the Lost Woods, take the shortcut to Goron City ( right, left, then forward ), then descend into Kakariko Village down Death Mountain. Or, quickly exit the Lost Woods and Kokiri Forest into Hyrule Field, call Epona, and ride directly to Kakariko. Whichever you feel more comfortable with.

Once you enter Kakariko Village, enter the Potion Shop (upper north side of the Village, near the Death Mountain gate), then exit in the Potion Shop via the side door to the left of the counter to reach the backyard, and the entrance to Granny’s Cauldron. If it happens to be night time, you will need to grab a Cucco from the Cucco pen then jump over the metal gate in front of the Windmill to reach the backyard of the Potion Shop instead . Head inside, and give Granny the Odd Mushroom, and she’ll turn it into the next step in the sequence: the Odd Poultice.

Once Granny gives you the Odd Poultice, bring it back to her son in the Lost Woods. Thankfully, there’s no timer for this step, so you can take your time getting back, or use a warp song if you’d like. Regardless of your method, return to where you found the Master Craftman’s Son in the Lost Woods, and you’ll find Fado instead, with the man now missing. Speak to her, and she’ll reveal that he’s gone, but she wants the Odd Poultice since it was made from forest mushrooms. In return, she’ll give you the Poacher’s Saw.

The Poacher’s Saw seemingly belonged to the Master Craftsman’s Son, so you’ll have to bring it to the Master Craftsman. He’s found outside the Carpenter’s Tent in the Gerudo Valley. Unless you already did the Gerudo Fortress quest the bridge in Gerudo Valley will be out, but Epona can jump the gap with a running start. Show the Poacher's Saw to the Master Craftsman and he will give you the Broken Goron Sword.

The Broken Goron’s Sword must be brought to Biggoron, found at the top of Death Mountain. Whether you warp to Death Mountain Crater using the Bolero of Fire, or climb up Death Mountain Trail, carefully make your way up to the peak, just outside the summit and Great Fairy Fountain. Biggoron is found across from the fountain, rubbing his eyes. Show him the Broken Goron’s Sword, and he’ll take it off your hands in exchange for getting his eye drops from King Zora. So he’ll give you the Prescription to bring to King Zora.

Once you have the Prescription, head to Zora’s Domain. If you haven’t already freed King Zora from the red ice using Blue Fire, you’ll have to do so in order to talk with him. Blue Fire is found in the Ice Cavern, but can also be purchased from the Potion Shop in Kakariko Village. Anyway, show King Zora the Prescription, and he’ll give you the key ingredient to make the eye drops: the Eyeball Frog.

Once you receive the Eyeball Frog from King Zora, a timer for two and a half minutes will appear at the top of the screen . You’ll only have this long to bring the eyeball frog to the scientist at the Lakeside Laboratory at Lake Hylia. Once again, since there’s a timer, warp songs won’t work. Our recommended route is taking the Zora River to Lost Woods shortcut, which is found just outside Zora's Domain on the left. Exit the Woods into Hyrule Field, then quickly call and ride Epona over to Lake Hylia. Alternatively, if you have finished the Water Temple, you can exit Zora's Domain directly to Lake Hylia.

Once you’re at Lake Hylia, head into the Lakeside Laboratory, and speak to the scientist. Give him the Eyeball Frog, and after he laments that he won’t be able to eat it, he’ll make the Specialty Eye Drops for Biggoron.

Once the Scientist makes the Specialty Eye Drops for you, a timer will once again appear up top, just like with the Eyeball Frog. This time, for 3 and a half minutes. And, like the previous timers, the warp songs cannot be used here, so you’ll have to find another fast way to Death Mountain Peak.

Three minutes is plenty of time to just take the most direct route. Exit the Laboratory and hop on Epona, then ride across Hyrule Field to Kakariko Village, then Death Mountain. Head up the mountain as fast as you can. Careful of the raining fire and spiders in the final section of Death Mountain. If you don't run into any major issues you should have about 30-45 seconds to spare. Once again, if you are past Water Temple you can instead take a series of shortcuts: Lake Hylia to Zora's Domain, Zora's Domain to Lost Woods via Zora River, Lost Woods to Goron City, Goron City to Death Mountain.

Give the Eye Drops to Biggoron. After he celebrates finally being able to see, he’ll give you the Biggoron Receipt.

Once you obtain the receipt for the Biggoron Sword, you’ll have to wait three days before the sword is ready. So pull out that Ocarina, and play Sun’s Song repeatedly until three days have passed. If you lose track of how much time has passed, talk with Biggoron and he’ll tell you how much longer until it’s ready.

Once three days have passed, speak to Biggoron, and give him the receipt. He’ll give you the Biggoron Sword.
