The WNBA Finals are all tied up at 2-2. Angel Reese spoke after the Game 4 disappointment about what didn't work for her.
After Game 2 and Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, it looked like a foregone conclusion that Angel Reese would be the Finals MVP. Atlanta had taken a 2-1 lead with one more game on their home floor, and were one win away from taking a commanding lead in the Finals.
The Valkyries had other plans, though. They bounced back from their 26-point Game 3 defeat with a 67-62 win. Gabby Williams led the way for her team with a 17-point display. More importantly, they stopped Reese from going off after two consecutive monster games. The Dream star spoke about her bad night.
Angel Reese says she rushed her shots and didn't 'take her time' like the last two games
The Dream struggled to find their rhythm offensively, with Angel held to just eight points on 2-of-12 shooting. Rhyne Howard had a great game, but it wasn't enough for Atlanta to get the win they needed. Reese took accountability after the game.
Adjusting within a series is what leads to playoff success in basketball. This is true for the teams and the individual superstars. Change begins with recognising mistakes, and Reese was upfront about what she got wrong in Game 4.
"I think I rushed a lot of my shots and I didn't take my time and finish around the basket like I've been doing in the last 3 games," Reese told media at the press conference. It happens and I'm just looking forward to the next game and I'll just be better.
The straightforward statement from Angel is another sign of her maturity as a WNBA star. It is now effectively a best-of-3 contest between the two teams for the championship. Reese has shown enough during these playoffs that fans will have complete trust in the superstar.
