Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles Just Dropped to an All-Time Low Price in the UK

Both Smyths and Argos are currently selling the popular console for £354.99 , a considerable drop in price compared to the new RRP of £419.99. That's a £65 saving, and a mighty fine deal if I do say so myself.

While the following is speculative and unconfirmed, it's not unreasonable to suggest that this could be a clear-out of stock to make way for the new replaceable battery version of the console confirmed to be launching in Europe this Autumn.

But no matter the reason for the discount, considering the impressive line-up of games Nintendo has been pumping out so far this year, and then looking at what's coming up through to 2027 as well, this might just be the best time to pick up a Switch 2.

Just look at Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave , which just got a 10/10 review here on IGN, alongside the slew of other great games already available.

It's honestly baffling when you really look at it: Star Fox, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokémon Pokopia (soon to get expansions as well), Splatoon Raiders, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Hades 2, Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and I could go on!

Look at what's coming up as well, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake honestly looking like it'll be one of the biggest games of the year, despite going up against the juggernaut that is GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox. We've also got FromSoftware's Duskbloods to look forward to soon, as well as Metroid Ravenous , which is one of my most anticipated releases of 2027, landing on January 28.

That's just the first-party output as well, with so much to look forward to from third-party games like The Witcher 3: Remastered, Stellar Blade, Metaphor ReFantazio, Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition, Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4, and a ton of other hits.

It's a surprise, but a welcome one, that Nintendo can pump out so many great games while the rest of the industry flounders in an attempt to stop the ship from falling, chasing short-term gains, or trends that are outdated fast.

Look, I'm waffling, but basically what I'm trying to say is that for what you're paying, this is the best option for those looking to buy a console in 2026.

While PS5 and Xbox are getting the likes of GTA 6, which is very exciting, it stupidly expensive to try and buy into that generation right now, and you might be better off saving up and waiting for the next console cycle within the next couple of years.

Switch 2 on the other hand, is getting games all the time, and is a much more affordable prospect, especially when it's getting brilliant discounts like the one above. Like I mentioned, it's a limited time deal, so I wouldn't hang around if you're looking to pick one up at the best price possible. Even if it's intended to be a Christmas present, get it sorted now and be stress free for the remainder of 2026.
