Eleanor is a distinct NPC that you can encounter while playing Probably Stolen. She has a unique story where you can have direct impacts on what happens to her. If you're willing to help her out, she does provide you with a worthwhile reward. In this guide, we're going to cover everything you need to know about completing Eleanor's questline while playing Probably Stolen.
How to Complete Eleanor's Questline in Probably Stolen
Eleanor will appear to you within the first two or three weeks of opening your shop. She tells you that she's been stranded in the Lower Levels because her mother's been taken to jail. She's not too sure about the reason, but wants to try to purchase basic supplies from you when she meets you, and wants to buy food so she can survive. You can sell any type of food to her, and she'll be on her way.
After this, she'll appear again within the next few days. Eleanor explains that things are getting worse, and she's going to remain here in the Lower Levels for much longer than she planned, as her mother is still in jail. Now, she's going to ask to buy Household Supplies from you so she can survive. You can provide any type of Household item to her, and she'll be on her way.
The third time that Eleanor appears, she's running out of money. She doesn't have many other options available to her, and wants to sell you the few items she has so he can continue to buy supplies and stay alive. She's going to sell you several luxury items, which you can turn around and sell to others in the Lower Levels for a reasonable price.
Now, before you see Eleanor again, an individual is going to appear as "Eleanor's Uncle," with a supply package for Eleanor. He's going to give it to you for free and have you ask no further questions. However, if you hover over the item, it's labeled with the five-finger discount, and it's noted as stolen. If you take it, the man leaves it with you.
You have the option to give this crate to Eleanor, or keep it. If you give it to Eleanor, she gets arrested immediately and goes into jail with her mother. However, if you hold onto the item and do not give it to Eleanor, her story continues. Eventually, the Care Package crate loses its stolen rating, and you can open it up or sell it to others for a great price. I do recommend selling it.
A few days later, Eleanor tells you she's made a discovery that she's certain that someone framed her mother. She's not sure who, or why they did it. However, despite not having access to her money, she's going to try to earn it. Her new roommate in the Lower Levels has shown her how to scavenge in the Dumping Area for good items, and brings you a random supply of things she's found out in this area. She's looking to get at least 850 credits to save her mother. You don't have to get her to this amount right away. You can take a few days, slowly purchasing items she brings until she has enough to buy a Private Investigator.
When she reaches her amount, a few days pass, and Eleanor comes to you to share that her mother was working on genetic research for Nutrifruit, and that she had discovered a way to bring seeds for the fruit, allowing others to farm these without having the Corporations involved. She says she needs a few days to process this information, and departs.
Before you see her again, a Black Market Thug appears and warns you that if Eleanor doesn't give the genetic research back that she got about her mother, her mother is going to die. However, if she does give it back (and you convince her to do it), you'll get 300 credits for it.
Next, Eleanor appears to tell you she got the same threat. If she announces the truth about the research, her mother is going to die. But if she gives up the research, the two of them live, and they can return to their old life. You'll have the option to convince Eleanor of the choice that she wants to make.
By encouraging Eleanor to come forward about the genetic research, her mother is killed. Still, the Nutrifruit discovery helps a lot more people than it hurts, and provides a better life for others. Eleanor will also share that, with her mother dead, she's going to fight against the Corporations and join the Revolution, asking for a weapon before she leaves your vendor.
If you tell her to give the genetic research up, her mother lives. But the research doesn't come to light, and others don't benefit from this discovery.
Both options give the same item, as well: a SYNC Self-Refilling Neuroactive Perfume. It gives you a 15% profit boost with one customer you use it with. The bottle has five uses and refills a use every three days.
