Get an Xbox Ally X Ryzen Z2 Extreme Handheld Gaming PC for as Low as $790 Ahead of Black Friday
I don't think there will be a better price on Black Friday.
The Asus ROG Xbox Ally X is still one of the best Windows gaming handheld PCs on the market. It's powerful enough to run even the latest AAA PC games thanks to the updated AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. The Xbox interface is also intuitive and easy to use. In fact, IGN's Jackie Thomas recommends getting the Xbox Ally (and Ally X) over a Steam Deck . And even if you didn't like the Windows interface, you can install the Steam OS on virtually any PC .
Best Buy is offering a bigger discount than usual on open box Asus ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming PCs. Instead of paying $1,000 retail, you can pay as little as $789.99 for a "Fair Condition" model. Personally, I'd recommend getting one in "Excellent Condition" for $849.99. These are Geek Squad verified preowned units that include a 15-day return policy. The better graded "excellent condition" units are in like-new condition both functionally and cosmetically with very low usage time. They may also include most or all of their original warranty.

Asus ROG Xbox Ally X 7" 120Hz AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme Handheld Gaming PC (24GB/1TB)
The Xbox Ally X is one of the most powerful handheld gaming PCs around
The Asus ROG Xbox Ally X is one powerful handheld. It has recently been superseded by the Xbox Ally X20 , but performance-wise they are identical. Like it's successor, the Xbox Ally X is equipped with the latest gen AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It runs off the Windows operating system, but with Xbox integration. The nomenclature might be confusing, but the Xbox Ally X is really more of an evolution of the the Asus ROG Ally X handheld than it is an actual Xbox console. IGN's Jacqueline Thomas reviewed the Xbox Ally X and concluded that "the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X [was] easily the best handheld gaming PC available."
The Xbox Ally X is the least expensive handheld with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU
Compared to other gaming handhelds equipped with the same Z2 Extreme CPU, the Xbox Ally X is actually reasonably priced. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 costs $1,300 (and actually recently increased in price ) and the MSI Claw A8 costs $1,200. The new Xbox Ally X20 is $1,299.99 and still uses the same internal hardware. Yes, there are some notable improvements, especially the bigger OLED display, but you're also paying $400 more.
I don't think there will be a better price on Black Friday
If you think you'll find a better deal during Black Friday, I'm going to temper your expectations. I think chances are slim that there will be a serious promotion for the Xbox Ally X. If anything, we may see a freebie or small discount on a brand new model, but not anything as low as $850 or less, unless you're willing to jump through a lot of hoops (stacking cashback offers, credit card perks, price matching, etc).
