A Beginning Beyond the Waves Walkthrough

After completing the previous quest, Where the Wind Blows , you'll be out in the water ready to sail the ocean. As the helpful windows leading into this quest explain, your sails can lower and raise depending on where the wind is. Your goal is to sail with the wind to get the most speed on your way to the Auronui Island.

Across two trips from Vellua to Auronui Island, we've had the wind flow toward it. Therefore, as long as you watch the white streaks flowing through the air and sail with them , you'll move quickly. If you're having trouble seeing them, you can also look at your minimap near the bottom left corner . It'll now have a small icon that represents where the wind is coming from, while pointing to where it's going.

If you pass the island or are stuck sailing against the wind, you'll want to have your sails mostly raised. However, the Rigger crewman will prevent you from lowering them to a certain extent. If you're able to sail diagonally and zig-zag to your destination, that can help you catch the wind.

Aside from the wind mechanics, you may run into enemies as we did . Instead of battling pirate ships, we actually encountered Kite Pirates who glided onto our ship. You can either hop off the ship's wheel to fight them or leave it to your crew. With that said, this could have been a random event and may not happen to you.

Otherwise, all you have to do is sail close enough to Auronui to trigger a cutscene that will complete A Beginning Beyond the Waves. This then unlocks two new quests, Secret of the Winding Island and Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands.
