New Christmas LEGO Sets Announced, Including Buddy the Elf

Christmas may be a few months away, but LEGO isn't waiting until then to drop some exciting new seasonally-appropriate sets for builders. The company has just announced five new sets that are perfect for the holidays releasing soon on October 1: Buddy the Elf (from the classic 2003 holiday movie, Elf ), a Santa’s Holiday Countdown set, an Up-Scaled Mrs. Claus Minifigure , and more.

For those who can't wait to get in the Christmas spirit this year, preorders are live at the LEGO store for Buddy, priced at $39.99, and Santa's Holiday Countdown, priced at $59.99. Unfortunately, the big Mrs. Claus minifigure, which is also listed for $59.99, is not up for preorder right now but will be available to buy on October 1.

This delightful Buddy the Elf build looks like a must for those who adore the Will Ferrell-led holiday flick. Recommended for ages 12 and up, this build features 713 bricks that piece together to form Buddy and his arctic puffin friend.

Of course, there's also candy canes around the snowy base and a maple syrup bottle. Can't forget two of the most important food groups.

The Santa's Holiday Countdown set looks like such a fun build for those looking to keep track of the days leading up to Christmas.

With 873 pieces, and recommended for those aged 10 and up, you'll create Santa Claus coming down a chimney with a little countdown clock on it. With the help of knobs on the side of the set, you can turn the countdown blocks on the chimney to see how much time is left until the big day.

Last October saw the release of LEGO's big Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure, and this year Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance in the same format. Her 904-piece build features a posable head, arms, and hands, and similar to the Santa's Holiday Countdown set above, is also recommended for ages 10 and up.
