Alienware Just Released the World's First 39" 5K Monitor With RGB Stripe Tandem OLED Technology

The Alienware AW3926QW has no lack of features that make it stand out from the crowd, but perhaps its most impressive technology is the RGB stripe tandem OLED panel. Tandem OLED stacks multiple OLED layers on top of each other instead of a single layer. Tandem OLED is better than other OLED panels because: 1) it's much brighter (the AW3926QW in particular has a very impressive 1,300 nits of peak brightness) and 2) it's less prone to burn-in.

The AW3926QW doubles down on this with new RGB stripe technology. Whereas traditional tandem OLEDs use white pixels, RGB stripe tandem OLED breaks the color down further into vertically aligned red, green, and blue pixels. This reduces color fringing and in turn significantly improves text clarity. It goes without saying that there are obvious benefits here for both gaming and productivity purposes alike.

Tandem and RGB stripe technologies aside, the AW3926QW is also Alienware's first 5K OLED monitor. With an impressive 5120 x 2160 resolution, this 39" monitor boasts a pixel density of 143ppi. That's even sharper than an already impressive 32" 4K monitor, with its pixel density of 138ppi. A 39" monitor is pretty wide, so the AW3926QW employs a 1500R curve to balance it out. 1500R is pretty moderate as far as curved monitors go, so although you'll be able to see the entire monitor within your field of view, it won't significantly distort peripheral images.

OLED monitors are known for their extreme fast response time and perfect black levels, making them ideal for gaming. The AW3926QW ups the ante with its 165Hz refresh rate at 4K and support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility. It has both DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 ports so you'll be able to connect it to just about any modern day graphics card without the need for adapters.
