Animated Diablo Show in the Works at Netflix

An animated Diablo show is in the works at Netflix, as announced at Blizzcon 2026, and there could be more to come.

Blizzard president Johanna Faries revealed the news, alongside a teaser for future series based on some of the company's other properties.

"We are thrilled to share that we are in development for a new animated series for Diablo with Netflix," she told the crowd. "As a big Diablo player myself, and someone who loves the indulgent darkness of Sanctuary, I am very excited to see this project come to life. It's just the beginning; to our Overwatch community, to our Warcraft community, and who knows — perhaps even some of our other universes, just know there are great discussions being had.

"And while I begged and pleaded to be able to share more, I can’t spill the beans just yet. I promise, as soon as we can, we will share more details with you."

"After decades of bringing entire universes to life through our games, we’re partnering with some creative powerhouses to tell even more stories beyond gaming across new screens," Blizzard said in a press release. "A new animated series set in the world of Diablo is in development with Netflix. More details will be shared in the future, but this is only the beginning, with even more taking shape across our universes."

A slew of other big reveals were announced for the franchise at Blizzcon, the biggest of which was the reveal of Diablo 5 , set to release in Spring 2029. This game takes place after Sanctuary has fallen, where our big bad, Diablo himself, has won.

"For the first time, you won't be fighting to stop Diablo for taking Sanctuary. You'll enter a world where he already has. There are no towns or safe places to protect you. ...what must you become when the world has already fallen?" Blizzard franchise leaders said during the Saturday showcase.

A new class pack, the Amazon, is also coming to Diablo 4 in 2027. The Diablo 4 collection is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and Season 15 is available now, giving players a look back at the entire history of the Diablo series.
