Xbox has revealed a spread of officially licensed accessories made in collaboration with 8BitDo, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreek. The Cozy Collection includes new colorways for a controller, keyboard, mouse, earbuds, and thumb grips, all of which are compatible with Xbox consoles and PC.
While specific designs vary across each peripheral, the collection is unified by soft green and brown hues, a pixel art style, and a general “nature” vibe. Most of the accessories are available for purchase now, save for the 8BitDo Ultimate 3 controller, which is up for preorder ahead of a September 29 release date.
Cozy Collection - Compatible With Xbox and PC
8BitDo Retro 97 Mechanical Keyboard - Forest Wonder
8BitDo Ultimate 3 Wireless Controller - Mossy Lagoon
SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds – Matcha and Yuzu
KontrolFreek No-Slip Thumb Grips – XBOX Cozy Edition
The collection includes new colorways for some of 8BitDo’s current generation of peripherals, as well as SteelSeries earbuds and KontrolFreek thumb grips. Everything in the collection is designed for both Xbox and PC.
We’re particularly big fans of all of these base models. For starters, we gave the original 8BitDo retro mechanical keyboard a 9/10 , describing it as “a rugged, well-built gaming keyboard that feels as good as it looks” and happens to feature some “easy-to-program macro functionality.”
The new Forest Wonder colorway decorates those clicky keys with an array of creatures and plants, including some very Stardew-esque crops marking your WASD keys. It also has some good ol’ RGB backlighting, specifically designed to give the appearance of “fireflies through a quiet forest at night.”
The wireless 8BitDo Ultimate 3 controller moves us from the forest to the sea. Well, the lagoon, to be precise. We called the base Ultimate model a " proper pro controller" in our 8/10 review , once again praising the level of customization. The Mossy Lagoon colorway adds some aquatic pixel creatures while turning the thumbsticks into little mossy islands. It’s cute!
The 8BitDo mouse is the simplest redesign of the main trio, honing in on that green and orangey-brown combo. Also deemed “Forest Wonder,” the colorway is specifically designed to match the retro keyboard. The pixel art, in this case, is reserved for the mouse’s charging stand. Did I mention the collection is entirely wireless?
The collection isn’t technically limited to 8BitDo accessories. Xbox also collaborated with SteelSeries on new “Matcha” and “Yuzu” colorways for the premium Arctis GameBuds, yet another peripheral we’d recommend. I’m not really an earbud person myself, generally preferring some over-ear action, but headset expert Michael Higham gave these particular buds, which are placed solidly at the top of our list of best gaming earbuds , yet another 9/10 .
