How to Get Gift of Halved Damage - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Guide - IGN

Gift of Halved Damage is a permanent upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. This upgrade permanently reduces all damage received by half. This upgrade is obtained at the Ganondorf's Castle Great Fairy Fountain. This guide will teach you how to get Gift of Halved Damage, including requirements and location.

Gift of Halved Damage is bestowed at the Great Fairy Fountain outside Ganondorf's Castle. Right of the entrance to Ganondorf's Castle you will see this black pillar with gold symbols on it. This pillar cannot be moved until you have the Golden Gauntlets from inside Ganondorf's Castle.

Thankfully the Golden Gauntlets can be obtained immediately upon getting access to the castle. Head straight for the Trial of Shadow. Use a Fire Arrow to light the torch across the room, which will summon a trail of platforms letting you cross the room. Once you reach the second large platform with the Like Like, use Lenses of Truth to see the invisible path leading to the switch that summons the Golden Gauntlets chest.

Exit Ganondorf's Castle and go throw the golden pillar out of the way. Once inside the fountain, stand on the Triforce symbol in front of the water and play Zelda's Lullaby to summon the Great Fairy. She will demand an offering of 500 Rupees. Pay up and you will get Gift of Halved Damage.
