Disney plans to license Ice Age, Percy Jackson and more to Netflix as part of a new deal between the two firms.
In the deal, Netflix will host select Disney+ content for its 325 million subscribers, including a mix of legacy titles and currently streaming TV shows. The nonexclusive deal is designed to help boost interest in contemporary Disney series such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which joins Netflix on October 4. The first two seasons will appear on the rival streaming platform ahead of its Disney+ Season 3 premiere on November 20.
All five 20th Century Studios’ Ice Age movies will land on Netflix at the same time as Percy Jackson. Will Trent Seasons 1-4, Shifting Gears Seasons 1-2, and Tracker Seasons 1-3 are also heading to Netflix between November this year and February 2027.

In 2027, a range of Walt Disney Animation and Pixar movies will also head to Netflix, including Soul, Elio, and Raya and the Last Dragon, along with a selection of complete series such as Felicity, This is Us, Revenge, and Fresh off the Boat. Release dates for these vary by region.
According to the Variety exclusive, this will be a mutually beneficial deal, with Netflix getting more content and Disney getting more eyes on the kind of things it offers outside of its biggest franchise titles (and presumably some cash).
Those franchise titles such as Marvel and Star Wars will remain exclusive to Disney+, keeping its Disney-branded titles as the main selling point of the subscription service. Netflix will also continue to invest in its own content, with original series and animations such as Arcane, The Witcher, and Castlevania keeping subscribers fed.
Netflix recently announced its streaming lineup for October , which includes miniseries East of Eden, Ben Affleck’s Animals, and Josh Hartnett squaring off against a sea beast in Below.
Disney+ has an exciting October coming up too, featuring Marvel’s VisionQuest, horrible (in a good way) horror movie Barbarian, and American Horror Story: 13. With Disney+ and Hulu merging their libraries , there’s more choice than ever over there.
It’s just a shame Disney+ had to increase its pricing again ahead of the next big Marvel drop. It’s a bit of a Thor point. If you can’t afford subscriptions to Netflix and Disney, though, at least you’ll be able to catch some Disney+ stuff on Netflix from October 4.
