Sir Reginald and the Clockwork Heart is a new graphic novel that's billed as a pulp-flavored mashup of Hellboy and Duck Tails. That elevator pitch alone is enough to have us very intrigued. The fact that it's also a jam piece featuring some of the most talented artists in the comics industry is just icing on the cake.

With the Kickstarter campaign for Sir Reginald and the Clockwork Heart in the pre-launch stage now, IGN can exclusively debut a preview of writer Joe Atalla and artist Juni Ba's story "The Curse of Osiris." Check it out in the slideshow gallery below:

Sir Reginald and the Clockwork Heart is a 96-page graphic novel that features five stories in all, each of which is written by Atalla. Other artists include Atalla, Jesse Lonergan, Dimitrios Pantazis, and Armand Bodnar. Here's the official description of the book:

From scorching deserts to fathomless oceans, from sacred temples to ancient graveyards, Sir Reginald and the Clockwork Heart follows the eccentric adventurer Sir Reginald, intrepid gentleman (and skeleton) adventurer and his loyal ghostly butler Mr. Spittle, on a series of extraordinary expeditions. On each adventure, Reginald finds a mysterious artifact to add to his growing collection. However, there is more to these missions than meets the eye… What is Sir Reginald really scouring the globe for? And what is the secret project he keeps hidden even from his close confidant Mr. Spittle in his secret workshop?

“Sir Reginald and the Clockwork Heart has everything I think a comic should today - memorable characters, action, adventure, romance, humor and a dash of mystery,” said Atalla in a statement. “Beneath this lies a fiercely beating heart that will make you question yourself by the end of the story. I'm so proud of what my collaborators and I have created. These stories have something for everyone.”
