Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Has Finished Shooting Its Performance Capture, Confirms Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has wrapped shooting on the game's performance capture.
Naughty Dog's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet , has wrapped shooting its performance capture.
Naughty Dog confirmed in a new social media post that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has concluded its "cinematic shoot." This means that all of the story content has been captured by the actors and likely suggests that the game is entering its final stages. Performance capture often takes years, with actors performing the game in chunks as the team simultaneously continues to create the game.

For reference, The Last of Us Part 2 wrapped performance capture in April 2019 , roughly a year before the game's release in June 2020. However, Naughty Dog had initially planned for that game to release in February 2020 before a delay pushed it to May 2020. Once COVID happened, the game was briefly delayed once more to June 2020.
With that said, it's possible that Intergalactic is just a year away from launch. A 2027 release has been rumored and speculated for a while, but nothing has been confirmed by Naughty Dog. There is a PlayStation State of Play later this week , so it's possible that Naughty Dog will share new details on the game there. It has been nearly two years since the title was announced, and Naughty Dog hasn't said much about it since its reveal.
Fans have also been frustrated that Naughty Dog hasn't had a game since 2020, but that was never part of the plan. The studio was meant to release The Last of Us Online between The Last of Us 2 and Intergalactic , but its cancellation created a more significant gap in releases for the studio. Going forward, there likely won't be big generational gaps as Naughty Dog has multiple projects in development, which are speculated to be Uncharted 5 and The Last of Us Part 3 .
