Deep In The Valley is one of the first optional Purple Story Quests in Phantom Blade Zero you can actually complete.
Starting this quest is fairly easy. After you defeat Peng Meng , you will progress forwards, eventually completing the chapter. You will then make your way to the Sha-Chi Tower. Just next to the Creek Valley Plains Entrance bell, the nearby disciple tells you he dropped the base camp gate key inside the Steel Tower while escaping faceless enemies. This begins the Deep in the Valley purple quest.
Here are the steps to complete the quest:
Before you can collect the Base Camp Gate key, you need to find the Hunter's Chain Sickle. This is dropped upon defeating The Hunt, Hunter of the Order at the very end of the Weeping Creek Valley area.
Therefore, progress onwards until you defeat The Hunt. A full breakdown of the boss guide is below:
Some of his moves should feel familiar, but here are the special attacks you need to look out for:
The Hunt can attack from most ranges with wild chain sickle moves. Parrying will lower his Sha-Chi meter quickly, but if you’re not confident in the timings, just block until you see a blue or red flash attack. And switch weapons defensively to refill your Sha-Chi meter if it runs low while blocking.
Offensively, you can overwhelm the Hunt, especially if you obtained the Scarlet Wraithblade from the optional boss battle against Hua, Deadly Betrothed . It creates patches of Red Spider Lilies that drain the Hunt’s health if he stands in them during both Sha-Chi combos and Power Surges. And sometimes, a button prompt pops up during longer combos, giving you chances to deal extra damage.
The Hunt regains all of his HP once you fully deplete his health bar. This is phase two, against The Hunt, Sixfold Scythe . He now has extra arms that come with new attacks, so here are all of the new special moves that you should watch out for.
The Hunt has more arms in this phase, which means he has more sickles to launch your way. The attacks are a bit quicker and can hit you from a greater distance. He also has a slow-moving projectile that hits multiple times.
Your strategy doesn’t need to change much offensively – you can still overwhelm the boss. Just try not to overextend your combos, especially when you see the Hunt’s Sha-Chi meter refill.
You’re rewarded with the Hunter’s Chain Sickle Phantom Edge which is needed for this fight.
With the Hunter's Chain Sickle, you want to travel back to the Sha-Chi Tower and climb to its peak. Here you will meet the Watchful Shadow Warden, which is a part of the A Severed Mindseal Tale side quest.
But, just to the right, you can find a wall to climb up and then a pipe to walk across.
At the end you can use the Hunter's Chain Sickle to jump up to the higher part of the tower.
Sitting here is the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key.
With the Base Camp Gate Key, return to the Creek Valley Plains Entrance bell and open the gate next to it.
This opens up an entirely optional area to explore allowing you to complete other side quests like Four Fierce Axes , Apprentice Healer , and Bloodline Awakening . This will also complete this quest.
