Romance is now possible in Crimson Desert with the release of the Charting the Unknown DLC, and each playable character can marry almost any of the NPCs in Pywel. This is an expansion of the existing NPC Trust mechanic from the base game, and the new interaction UI will help you deepen your bonds. This guide will show you how to flirt with, romance, and marry NPCs in Crimson Desert's Charting the Unknown DLC.
To romance a character in Crimson Desert, you have to repeatedly flirt with them to build their romance meter up to 100. Once you've flirted enough, you can propose and they'll hopefully accept. Romance is entirely separate from the base game Trust system, so you'll have to start from scratch even if you already have 100 Trust with your favorite NPC.
Nearly all of Pywel's NPCs can be romanced barring a few exceptions. Certain NPCs (like Pywel's Witches ) require you to complete specific quests before they can be romanced as well. If an NPC can be romanced, you'll see a Trust meter with a heart in the top-right corner when interacting with them.
If you cannot romance an NPC, there will be a crossed out person with a heart next to the Interact prompt when targeting them. Most of the Greymanes seem to be off limits to Kliff, for example.
Choosing to flirt with an NPC will raise their romance level by a few points. You can speed up the romance process even further by chatting about past adventures or giving gifts as well. You can only increase an NPC's romance level with these methods once per in-game day .
Once you've reached the maximum romance level of 100 with an NPC, you can successfully propose to them. Don't try to propose before reaching 100 romantic Trust points! Otherwise, they'll reject your advances and lose 15 Trust points.
After getting married, your spouse will permanently be marked on the map like the other playable characters. You can also summon and travel together with your spouse, and they'll periodically give you small gifts. When you're not adventuring with them, they'll hang out at your primary residence at the Greymane camp or any new residences constructed in the Charting the Unknown DLC.
You can also change your spouse's appearance at a barber shop, but don't expect full character customization. It's similar to the customization available to Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka. Finally, you can divorce your spouse from the revamped interaction menu if you get tired of them.
