How loud, exactly, was the Brewers crowd for Game 1?
Here's how loud the American Family Field crowd got for big moments in Game 1 against the Dodgers
Brice Turang jumpstarted the offense, Luis Lara delivered the clutch hit and the bullpen was nails, but Garrett Mitchell had another MVP of the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 Game 1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series on Oct. 11.
"I think everyone was excited for today," Mitchell said. "Having such amazing fans who support you even when you go down, just keeping the energy up, we feel that and we feed off of that. That's what makes us really good, is it's a collective effort. It's the players on the field, yes, but having that support from the fans is important."
The atmosphere was noticeably livelier than either of the Brewers two home games during their National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres a week ago. Perhaps that's simply due to the advanced stage of the postseason, or maybe there's some extra juice that comes from facing the Dodgers.
But, either way, it was louder from first pitch all the way through the final out, at which point the sellout crowd of 42,617 reached its peak of 114.2 decibels when Mitchell squeezed Mookie Betts' deep fly to center. For much of those NLDS games, the ambient sound sat throughout the action between a floor of 75 decibels and 80 decibels, whereas rarely did it dip beneath 85 dB at any point of when the game was going on in Game 1 against the Dodgers.
Here's how loud it was at different points of the night.
