Seattle (1-0) defeated New England (0-1), 13-10, on Wednesday at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. 68,744 were in attendance for the 2026 NFL regular season opener .

Ahead of Wednesday's game, Seattle announced roster moves that included one former Vol.

Safety AJ Finley was signed off the practice squad to the Seahawks ' 53-man roster. Safety Rodney Thomas II and former Vol Velus Jones Jr. were elevated from the practice squad. Guard Bryce Cabeldue was also waived.

Following the Week 1 game, the Seahawks announced Jones Jr. and Thomas II were reverted to their practice squad on Thursday.

Jones Jr. played at Tennessee from 2020-21 and appeared in 23 games. He totaled 84 receptions, 1,087 receiving yards, 10 receiving touchdowns and 31 rushing yards.

Jones Jr. recorded 1,026 yards and one touchdown on 41 kick return attempts. The former Vol also totaled 272 yards on 18 punt return attempts.

He was selected in the third round by Chicago in the 2022 NFL draft (No. 71 overall).
