As we move into November, we’re back again with the last set of Patch Notes… for the FACEIT platform as you know it. Luckily, that’s the only spooky news we have for you this month, with positive changes to our NA server pool and tournament plugin to talk about instead! We’ve also included some long-awaited shop features, such as the anime collection out this month, and the ability to claim your nickname from an idle player coming soon! It’s been a pleasure to share how we’re improving FACEIT for you these past few months, and we’d love to know what you liked (or didn’t!) about our patch notes, so do let us know !
Play with better ping with new East and West Coast NA servers
We’re still working hard on connection issues based on your feedback , but we’re also picking up your feedback, and testing the impact of adding a wider variety of server locations! We’ve begun this effort by adding two new test server locations to NA matchmaking in San Jose and Virginia : aiming to provide better options for west and east coast players respectively looking for a server closer to home. To allow you to play in a more convenient location and test out the new servers, we’re still only requiring you to select 2 servers, out of a pool of 5 (previously 3). While this may increase queue times, we wanted to give you the flexibility to play with low ping should you choose, and the option to add other servers in the pool for shorter queue times remains available! As this is a test period, we’re especially eager to hear back from you about your experience, so let us know what you think!
Idle Nicknames soon purchasable in the FACEIT Shop!
The wait is nearly over! Soon, nicknames held by inactive accounts will finally be available for others to purchase. We understand how important your nickname is to you, so we’ve built in protections to prevent abuse or accidental loss. To begin with, a nickname will only be released after 12 months of account inactivity. Additionally, these inactive players will receive an email one week in advance, reminding them that logging into FACEIT resets the 12 month timer. To further protect this feature, nickname claiming is a FACEIT Premium perk, though free users can purchase it for $4.99 or 5000 FACEIT Points in the Shop. Premium users can claim a new username for free every three months. Plus, if your nickname is claimed, you’ll receive 1000 FACEIT Points — enough to choose a new one if you decide to return!
