Last February, we launched the WASB Cups, a weekly tournament aimed at giving Overwatch teams of all skill levels the opportunity to train in official competitions. The goal was to improve their Elo and secure better seeding for OWCS and FACEIT League.

The WASB Cup allowed many teams to progress while also earning substantial rewards. Since its launch, the WASB Cup has seen:

More than 3,600 players participated in over 2,800 matches

$15,000 and over 18 million FACEIT Points distributed

In today’s blog, we will give you all the details about the Overdrive Cup , our brand new weekly tournament designed to help organized teams improve and sustain their careers.

The WASB Cups are gone, long live the Overdrive Cup!

Since their launch in February, we haven’t made any major changes to our weekly tournaments. With the Overdrive Cup , we wanted to revitalize the weekly cup concept, making it more appealing to players, while also helping teams of all skill levels improve throughout the week to enhance their performances in FACEIT League and OWCS.

This new initiative offers a fresh approach with attractive prizes and a live-streamed finals event, designed to give up-and-coming teams and grassroots players the opportunity to gain exposure within the community, as well as a new way to make their teams financially sustainable over time.

A free competition, using OWCS and FACEIT League rules, available in NA / EMEA / SA and OCE

Prizes that support teams in their ambition to become sustainable and break through in the competitive scene, with $2000 to be won each month and more than 2 million FACEIT points to be shared monthly

A multi-stage experience, featuring weekly tournaments leading up to the finals

Monthly Finals streamed by the community in multiple languages to provide greater visibility for teams and identify grassroots talent

Content creator teams will be invited to the Monthly Finals to boost the visibility of your team, but also to give you the chance to compete against big names in the community

Whether you are from NA , EMEA , SA or OCE , sign up now and experience our brand new Overdrive Cup! We hope this fresh format helps you refine your skills and strategies for FACEIT League and OWCS, while also setting you on the path to making your team sustainable, so you can launch into the high-level Overwatch scene.

As always, we’re excited to hear your feedback and answer any questions you may have, so don’t hesitate to join us on FACEIT Overwatch Discord .

As we continue to improve our competitions and the experiences we bring to Overwatch players on FACEIT, we’ll be back soon with announcements on exciting new features. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing many of you in the Overdrive Cup and wish you the best of luck in winning your matches!
